The alert and beautiful eyes of this healthy little baby tell a bigger story. When the photo was taken, her mother was participating in a training-of-trainers seminar on Community Health through Hygiene led by Shannon Matricardi and Eileen Bidwell and co-sponsored by World Vision, Grace Chapel and the churches in Niger. The women who have been trained are then training others who are taking simple principles of hygiene to the rural villages. This has made such a big difference that some medical teams which have historically visited villages are being turned away because no one is sick. This change has also opened the door for people to hear about the love of Jesus in an area that has not heard this. These women who are offering the training in the villages are sacrificing much and are giving the kind of leadership that is changing their nation.
